Louie Vega receives the Tuning Fork Bracelet
On Friday, September 26, 2025, DJ legend Louie Vega performed at Het Sieraad, Postjesweg 1 in Amsterdam. This is the building where my grandfather received his technical training, back when it was still called the W. Maas Geesteranus Technical School. He later developed the alarm systems that protect the very same building today.
Het Sieraad is also the building where I earned my Gold and Silversmithing diplomas from 1995 to 1999, when it was still called the School for Gold and Silversmithing.It was there, in 1996, that I discovered that the aluminum bracelet I had formed around the iron poles of the swing set in my parents’ backyard could produce sound and could even be tuned to A440 Hz.During those years, I went to Outland Records on Zeedijk almost weekly with my then-boyfriend.He bought Louie Vega’s records there and we danced to his music for hours.
Now that Louie Vega was so close after all these years and so much history had come together, I couldn’t resist giving him a Tuning Fork bracelet.
