20 YEARS MOYA
Marleen Guthschmidt – gallery Guthschmidt The Hague
“Ten years to learn the trade, ten years to fix the mistakes and ten years (or more) to harvest.”
The first two decades are over. After GoldsmithingSchooI I started in my parents’ garden shed, via the Jordaan to my friends in the Derde Weteringdwarsstraat and in 2012 I opened the Spiegelgracht. The sowing: the making, the hours behind my workbench, inventing and trying out. And if it’s not good enough, melt it down and try again, anything to improve and make it more beautiful. Learned a lot, from my mistakes, from other people’s mistakes and from that one case that just happened to go right the first time.
A wonderful journey to discover all facets of the profession, but also the facets of myself and of my clients. My first real customer was a neighbor and now I have customers all over the world. That jewelry is beautiful is a nice side effect, but that there is often so much emotion in it, I had underestimated that. A portable memory of beautiful and sometimes very sad moments in a person’s life. Without you, my beautiful special customers, I would not have come this far! For that I would like to thank you all very much! There is an entrance ticket ready for you for SIERAAD ART FAIR from 26 to 29 May in the Westergasfabriek, in Amsterdam. Send me an e-mail for this entrance ticket.
And of course I also thank my dear family and friends for your support, critical and special advice!
In the meantime, I’m still figuring out where this wonderful journey will go next. For the time being, the gallery on the Spiegelgracht is scheduled to close its doors on Saturday, June 11, 2022. Until then, a large part of the collection is on sale with high discounts. Below you can see the opening hours for the coming period, you can also visit us at another time by appointment.
According to Marleen Guthschmidt there is a bright future ahead of me, open and free, time to harvest. In the coming time I will be busy preparing for SIERAAD ART FAIR, because the best thing is “sowing”!
Sincerely,
Eline van der Laag
